German soldier captured by the Allies, 1945
The world would remember the pictures of an image from World War II – a 16-year-old German soldier Hans-Georg Henke, taken captive by the US 9th Army on April 3, 1945. Tears run down his face; his face bears the imprint of the war. Henke, an orphaned boy, joined the Luftwaffe for the care of his family at the age of 15. He was snapped by photographer John Florea while he expresses his sorrow and pain to show how brutal war can be.
